China on Sunday backed its close ally Pakistan in safeguarding
its sovereignty and security interests, with foreign minister
Wang Yi calling on New Delhi and Islamabad to exercise restrain
in the aftermath of the terror attack in Pahalgam.
. . .
Is China behind some of this ???
A big war between India and Pakistan would give
China the big excuse it needs to move in lots
of troops and firepower to support its "friend".
They could hold all of Pakistan and parts of
India all while claiming to be "peace-keepers".
They'd never leave.
Vast resources in that geography - and access to
the Indian Ocean too.
Oh, and if even one nuke goes off - the fallout
would drift straight up into Chinese territory,
giving them license to do pretty much anything
they want.
If China sides with Pakistan, we'll have to side with India. That is
a good thing. Balance of power.
The Pakistan govt said today that it EXPECTS a
fairly heavy Indian attack - and is ready to
repel that by any means.
The 'any means' part IS worrisome.
China has heavily infiltrated Pakistan, now
has significant interests and influence.
Alas, neither the USA or EU/NATO is in a good
position to COUNTER Chinese influence there.
We are NOT as rich or strong as we still pretend
to believe. Even Ukraine has been too much of
a strain (politically anyhow) for the USA. The
UK mil is now a sick joke. The EU is too divided
and individually self-interested to be much
of a force.
In short, WE are weak, China is strong.
China KNOWS this. Not good.
And, as said, if even ONE nuke goes off in
India or Pakistan the fallout WILL drift
into Chinese territory - giving them all
the moral authority they need to move in
big time.
