"Not Even A Drop...": How India Plans To Stem Flow Of Indus Water
To Pak
A key meeting was held at Home Minister Amit Shah's residence, which
was attended by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Jal
Shakti Minister CR Patil and top officials.
Pakistan has already indicated that it is rattled by the
suspension of the treaty. "Any attempt to stop or divert the
flow of water belonging to Pakistan as per the Indus Waters
Treaty... will be considered as an Act of War and responded
with full force across the complete spectrum of National
Power," Pakistan's government said in a statement on Thursday
. . .
For Pakistan, even temporary cut-off of so much water
WOULD be the proverbial "existential threat". That
"complete spectrum" WILL involve nukes.
As posted elsewhere, it seems that the military hawks
have pounced on this big-time. It means things may
be done and said that can't be taken back.
For 30 years I've been saying that if a real nukewar
happens it WILL be between India and Pakistan. It's
something about the mindset/attitude in that part
of the world.
Oh, the fallout WILL drift over into Chinese territory,
which will give them every excuse to intervene ...
