    https://www.politico.com/news/2025/04/24/hegseth-pentagon-leadership-vacuum-00308620

The circle of top advisers in Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s
orbit has shrunk in recent days to little more than his wife,
lawyer, and two lower-level officials — leaving the Pentagon’s
lead office without longtime expertise or clear direction.

Hegseth’s decision to fire three senior aides last week and
reassign his chief of staff has blown a hole in his leadership
team, severing essential lines of communication across the
department and leading to fears about dangerous slip-ups
    such as weapons program delays.

    . . .

Ok ... Hegseth may not be entirely WRONG here - there
does seem a need to de-Dem/de-Woke the Pentagon.

The problem may be the TIMING more than the mission.

As clear, the world seems to be going to shit (again).
Russia/China/NK are the major opposition. They have
considerable power and influence - mil and economic.
    They also have imperial AMBITIONS.

Frankly ... well ... look up the sociopolitical
    situation just before WW-1.

The Trump/Hegseth mission seems badly timed.
This is a time for US/EU strength and unity
against its serious opponents. Instead, at
    least short/medium-term, the Hegseth mission
seems to be weakening that needed unity and
    capability.

You can view all this from a number of directions.
Each will give you a sorta different 'reality'.

But the reality of our opponents ... that's not
going to change much no matter HOW you choose to
look at it. These are the dictators, the war-lords,
the fanatics ... NOTHING good will come from them.

So, what DO we need - and FAST - to properly resist
these people ? It's not just politics, but PRACTICAL.
China in particular can come in at ANY time now and
seriously seriously upset the Western equation.

Russia has arms ... but China has MONEY - lots and
lots of money. That's sometimes the superior weapon.
NOT sure the USA/west can put up ANY resistance -
    mil or otherwise.

China has outrightly SAID it - it plans to control
the entire western Pacific area and more. Is SURE
it owns it all already. That's the deep propaganda.

Could the USA resist - esp with a confused mil
apparatus ? No. It'd rapidly come down to a
nukewar or not ... and nobody wins a nukewar.

The USA has become weaker than it's been since
the 1920s. Many factors contribute. Past leaders
made us hostage to China - for cheapo corporate
profits mostly. The bill has now come due.

    1. Find and prosecute/dismiss the leakers.

    2. If even a scintilla of evidence surfaces showing that
Hegseth knowingly did what he is accused of, he should be dismissed
    as well.

    3. I respect his service and dedication but I don't believe he is the
    most qualified for the job.
    I never have.

Might still be a lot of argument as to WHO is
    "best qualified" - that's a multidimensional
question and the answer depends on exactly
what YOU see as "most important".

The leakers are SNEAKY ... could take awhile to
find them all. The traditional approach is to
seed false info, and then see what gets leaked.

All I want is a Pentagon - and near alliances -
that can actually put up a convincing counter-
threat to China especially. As I said, the
current political MISSION may not be so bad,
    but the TIMING is.

Oh well, 25 years from now, the SecDef will
    be the esteemed AI-17 :-)
