Actually, there ARE broad requirements to carry ID in
the USA ... one of the post-911 things. You don't
ALWAYS have to have/show one, but there's a lot of
stuff you can't do without one and you MAY spend a
rather extended time in police custody as they try
to establish ID by other means. To the cops, no
    ID = GUILTY.

So, *technically* no ... but in Real Life ......

Hermosillo did not say he entered the country illegally. Trump's
immigration Gestapo agent lied about that.

Note they didn't declare him an illegal and toss him
back. His lack of ID created uncertainty, and they had
to detain him until that was resolved.

And, for now, that's how it has to be.

political parties like knowing which voters associate with their

As for me, I don't care. I don't vote in primaries. I'm registered as

Registration is not just about president. You leave in variety of

So the guy had no identification with him and said "trust

He almost deserved to be jailed for gross stupidity.

Fuck off, Nazi. There is no requirement to carry ID in the

    It's called vagrancy.

Note they didn't declare him an illegal and toss him

And, for now, that's how it has to be.

Logical ID. ID to prove you're a citizen. ID to vote.

This is the 21st century, kids. No more excuses. Requiring ID to
register and/or vote is NOT voter suppression.

    "Are you a US citizen?

Yep, here is my Social Security
    card and my US passort.

Fine, here is your ballots, fill
it out in the booth over there."

    Why is "voter registration" necesary?

Hollowhead doesn't understand about primary elections.

    Huh?

Lots of states have open primaries,
any voter can vote in any party's
    primary. What does registration accomplish?

Hollowhead doesn't understand about primary elections in the states
that don't have open primaries. He also doesn't understand that
political parties like knowing which voters associate with their
party. Maybe if the parties didn't want that, they could stop
registering voters in states that don't have open primaries.

Why should we care they want?
    The Constitution doesn't even mention
    political parties.

As for me, I don't care. I don't vote in primaries. I'm registered as
    an independent.

So you don't get to vote at all when
your distict is controlled by a single
    party. Such democracy.

That is true. I've voted absentee in the last three election cycles
