I've been seeing some reports that the US FDA has
finally approved experimental use of genetically
altered pig livers for human implantation.
They've been working on this for a long time.
Antigenic features that would cause rejection
have been removed.
Those with pig-hating religions ... tuff titty.
There are similar efforts for pig hearts.
Face it, LOTS and LOTS of people get bad
hearts and livers and kidneys ... but the
volume of human donors - esp compatibles -
is quite SMALL. Antigen-neutral pigs can
be "manufactured" in large quantities.
