Mothers’ traumatic childhoods may impact children with ADHD
or autism. Researchers urge more holistic family support.
Children with neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and
autism are more negatively affected by their mothers’
difficult childhood experiences than by their fathers’,
according to a study from the University of Gothenburg.
The findings highlight the need for broader support
strategies that address the family as a whole.
The research investigated the connection between parents’
adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), including abuse,
neglect, and household dysfunction, and developmental
outcomes in their children.

Ummmm ... spoiled little westerners ???
Until VERY recently, childhood was OFTEN "traumatic".
Marauders, Huns, the King's soldiers, famine, plague,
ultra-poverty, some other king's soldiers, gangsters,
drunken dad with knife .... life was absolutely packed
FULL of trauma/uncertainty.
STILL like that in many parts of the world. Look
up 'Darfur' or 'Congo' or 'Yemen' or 'Myanmar' ...
or 'Ukraine' .........
IF ADHD/'autism' (hate that last one, diag creep
basically made it the norm) is some weird exogenetic
byproduct of 'trauma' ... MAYbe it's actually
"adaptive" - tuning the kiddies to better survive
an uncertain world ?
