• Wage Needed To Biy US Home - Now Into Six Digits Most Places

The dream of owning a home in America is becoming increasingly
out of reach. In most states, a six-figure income is needed to
    afford an average-priced home.

Nationally, homeowners must now earn $116,986 to afford a typical
home. That's an increase of 50 percent from $78,236 in 2020,
according to Bankrate's Housing Affordability Study.

The study analyzed home sale prices to calculate monthly
mortgage payments for every state and the District of Columbia —
and worked out what annual salary would be needed to cover that.

The lowest income required was under $65,000, with the highest
    at $240,000.

    . . .

As expected, Cal tops the price list. WHY people
pay so much to live in such a crappy-run state
    is a total mystery.

The cheapest are, as expected, the "redneck states".
However you may get a better overall QOL there. Yer
kids WILL crave old Camaro's and big pickups though.

They're sabotaged at every level practically
from birth. Inculcated with angst and self-
    doubt, guilt and helplessness.

Really, despite the money angle, better off
    in those 'redneck' states.

Fortunately my kids are all in their 30's and with the exception of 1
have already purchased homes well before things went nuts.
The outlier is a NYC die hard who is single, loves the nightlife and
is willing to pay for it so he rents.

My house on eastern L.I. NY is worth 7 times what I paid for it.
    Totally crazy.
And whenever there is a home for sale people are stacked up 3 deep
    to bid on it.
Where they are getting the money, I have no idea but apparently they
    have deep pockets.

In NYC proper, young people have almost always paired up and shared
apartments, even in the 80's, but now it's no longer 2 people sharing
but more like 5 or 6 as the rents are out of control.

So how does one save money to someday buy a home when paying that much rent?

    The bubble will burst shortly.
    It has to.

I think it's happening already ... and the 'Trump Chaos'
will speed that up a bit.

Typically, prices WILL keep increasing until they're
beyond what people can/will deal with - then SPLAT !
Capitalism, even with some checks, is still a positive
feedback machine ... will tend to bounce back and forth
between the rails because of that.

Hope you didn't invest a mil in some old crackerbox
last year ... "Oh - I'll flip it for TWO mil !!!".

    Not.
