    Libertarians are for free markets,
    not government tariffs.

The big-L Libertarian idea IS laudable ... BUT
it Just Can't Work These Days. More an 1830s
sort of economic reality where there were only
a very few 'big players' and almost all economics
    were 'local'.

We note that, as usual, Rand Paul is playing the
middle-man in some of this current stuff - the
"LP/Con principle" guy (as an excuse). A very
narrowly-divided govt is the perfect place for
guys like Paul ... they can position themselves
    as pivot-points. Politics ........

Of note, I'm actually registered as LP - but it's
more of a 'protest' thing against the other, too
corrupted, parties. I do see the beauty of the
Libertarian Concept ... but, at the same time,
can't help but see its limitations these days.

Nothing 'perfect' ... sob and waaaah ! Welcome
    to the Real World.

The THEORY is that self interest becomes national interest.
Do well and the nation does well - protecting your own
interests translates into protecting the national interest.

But, alas, it's all based on early 1800s US socio-economics.

Really can't work these days - world's too small and connected.

Couldn't actually work even Way Back When - it's why federalism
    won out.

Nope. The Libertarian philosophy is based on the idea that people should
be free to do as they wish as long as it does not interfere with
another's life, liberty or property through force or fraud.

Major Danby, indulgently with a superior smile: "But, Yossarian, suppose everyone felt that way?"

Captain Yossarian: "Then, I'd certainly be a damned fool to feel any other way, wouldn't I?"

I, as a proud libertarian, do not think only of myself. However, as a free person, *I* get to decide how much I think of and care for and help others. You have no say.

Gotta make Miller's evil quota. They gonna take yt peepo if they have to.

    Groan, wotta stretch:

    --
Once upon a time there was a kingdom ruled by a great bear. The peasants
were not very rich, and one of the few ways to become at all wealthy was
to become a Royal Knight. This required an interview with the bear. If
the bear liked you, you were knighted on the spot. If not, the bear would
just as likely remove your head with one swat of a paw. However, the family
of these unfortunate would-be knights was compensated with a beautiful
sheepdog from the royal kennels, which was itself a fairly valuable
possession. And the moral of the story is:

The mourning after a terrible knight, nothing beats the dog of the bear that hit you.
