    Rand has always based his image on being "opposition".

    Strictly, he's a fairly hard Libertarian - and thus
    nothing the DNC or GOP says pleases him.

    He's also expert in exploiting his "swing"
    status. When the big parties only have a
    razor-thin margin then any 'dissident'
    suddenly has a LOT more power.
