GM will dramatically increase car production in US after
    Trump tariffs

General Motors on Thursday announced it will dramatically
increase vehicle production in Indiana following President
    Donald Trump's tariffs.

The move came one day after after Trump slapped 25 percent
tariffs on on all foreign-made cars and auto parts to help
the industry 'flourish like never before.'

The president revealed the tariffs last month, promising it
would go into effect on April 2 that was deemed 'Liberation Day.'

And GM appeared to strike when the iron was hot, announcing
it will hire several hundred temporary workers for the assembly
line at its Fort Wayne plant.

The facility makes the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks,
which the American carmaker also manufactures in Mexico and
    Canada.

GM said in a statement on Thursday that it will hire temporary
workers for the assembly plant, saying that will be part of
'operational adjustments' at the plant 'to support current
    manufacturing and business needs.'

    . . .

If there's gonna be a 'drastic' increase in US production
    then why 'temporary' workers ???

Of course GM will also need to re-patriate lines for all
the little PARTS for those vehicles - which right now
mostly come from Mexican plants, production moved down
there in the 80s/90s outsourcing/offshoring craze.

GM *may* wanna get some of the sharpest workers in those
    plants LEGAL immigration/work status.

Apparently the "most American cars" are FORDS ... but,
well, Ford has a rep for, um, 'variable', quality. They
are 'OK', but you might be better off with a Chevy.

Stellantis/Chrysler is apparently closing DOWN three
plants in the Americas. It hasn't been doing so great
either in the USA or the EU. Note that some popular
Jeep models are almost entirely made in Mexico and
moving an entire large plant may be unaffordable at
    this time.

One little satisfying bit ... despite its constant
All American commercials, John Deere has been moving
everything to Mexico the past year. NOW it's screwed.

    Yep.
And Ford just announced employee pricing on all cars.
I bought my Mustang last year using that plan, the A-Plan,
and I paid a couple of grand under invoice.

And there are other manufacturers setting up production in the USA.

    Yep.

Who will be their American only competitor?

Free clue: after idjt triples prices on goods, if those the only
goods available for the task at hand, they still get bought and
US buyers buy the tariffs in full.

I do not what will happen to Lindt prices. Their only American
competitors are Ghiradelli and Sees. No one else makes edible
    chocolate in the USA.

By the way: Ghiradelli and Sees: California.

Even still, the benefit is jobs for US so let them lie. Just don't believe them :)

But it's the British telling us what's going on in the shithole USA.

They'll need to import illegals to work in the factory because nobody will be able to afford vehicles paying US wages.
