A new study has revealed that the stone circle in Dorset, UK
known as Flagstones monument is significantly older than
previously believed, dating back to around 3,200 B.C. The
discovery places it as the oldest known circular enclosure
in Britain, predating the first phase of Stonehenge by at
least 700 years.
The findings, published in the journal Antiquity, resulted
from a collaborative research effort by the University of
Exeter and Historic England. Using advanced radiocarbon
testing, scientists analyzed 23 samples, including human
bones, deer antlers, and charcoal, to confirm the monument’s
age.
. . .
England likely ranks as one of the Most Invaded
lands in history.
Early immigrants from as far as Africa, various
groups moving across from Europe - the Beaker
People especially - Celts, Anglo's, Saxons,
Romans, Northmen, it just goes on and on.
This has created a confusing historical picture.
Little was documented, so it's all down to
time-consuming detective work to figure out
what the hell happened, when, why and who were
the main players.
Even now, nobody is sure who was primarily
responsible for Stonehenge, or why. However
'stone circles' have been found dating back
much further - the oldest, albeit small, on
some of the islands off the Scottish coast,
I think one was even found under-water, lost
to rising post-glacial sea levels.
These circles were an OLD OLD concept and the
religion/mentality ... we may never know for
sure ... it'd just be guessing. IF there were
any 'records' we may not even understand what
they are, how to decode. The Inca knotted string
"writing" took a LONG time ... most thought
they were just 'ritual decorations'. 'Circles'
at Gobekli Tepe go back 10-12,000 years, and
they were even more fancy than Stonehenge.
Humans were supposed to be little more than
scurrying rabbits that far back.
And we STILL know almost nothing about what was
going on BEFORE/DURING the last ice age. "Humans"
or near-enough go back a LONG way, 300,000+ years.
What WERE they up to ??? How many civilizations
rose and fell or were crushed under the ice ???
We look for 'aliens' in the sky, yet know SO
little about our own history and how it ultimately
shaped our present.
HA ... came across another 'news' story about
finding "Noah's Ark". Sorry dudes, there was
NEVER a 'world flood', that much is plain now.
Post-glacial ice-dams breaking, yea - likely
SEEMED like the world was flooded to certain
locals ........
