    | If there are Martian scholars examining the United States
    | right now, they might be puzzling over the great Trump
    | paradox.
    |
    | It's that President Trump is doing immense long-term damage
    | to the United States by undermining democratic norms,
    | vandalizing the federal government and siding with alleged
    | war criminals in the Kremlin, yet if support for him falls,
    | I doubt it will have anything to do with all this. Rather,
    | it may be ... egg prices.

    You left this out:

    ".
Egg prices have gone up 239% between January 2020 and January 2025,
    federal data shows.

Who was President in that time?

    Ooops!

    You also left this out:

"The spokesperson said the information exists in other USDA reports."

Why do we need multiple reports?

    What president promised to lower

    One"?

    How is that working out?

Now now ... I'm sure the price of SOMETHING
    went down on Day One.

The price of Harris/Walz caps fer sure ! :-)

Joe left a HUGE mess ... likely by INTENT once
it was sure he wouldn't get re-elected.

As for eggs ... that's mostly the virus (and
the extreme ways of 'dealing' with it).

The Trump Plan is gonna hurt a little before it
gets all better again. Most everybody knows that.
People aren't THAT naive about 'campaign rhetoric'
any more. At least a bearded 'lady' isn't SecDef.

What might you suggest Trump do about it and why didn't Biden fix the
exact same problem in his term?

    Hypocritical much?

I have been in neighborhoods where
    backyard chickens were the norm.
Also the norm: Roving bands of foxes,
    coyotes, badgers, hawks and other
    carnivores that feed on chickens.

Don't mind chickens - but ROOSTERS are a lot
more disruptive. Eventually you start hoping
    for a tac-nuke strike or meteor ......

As for predators - they're everywhere anyway.
Coyotes are now normal in suburban areas all
across the USA. Hawks are PROTECTED ... and
can travel long distances ... ain't gonna cut
into their pop. Badgers, um, maybe in a FEW
areas of the country. Fox are as widespread
as coyotes, just quieter so you maybe don't
    notice them as much.

Awhile back, some Russians put effort into
    breeding fox for 'domestication', eventually
creating a 'fog ?' that looked and acted a
lot more like a dog. Cute and friendly.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domesticated_silver_fox

As for the CURRENT egg prob - it really truly IS
the damned virus. The practice of killing entire
massive flocks if even one chik gets the disease
has NOT been effective - and has driven up egg
    and general chicken-stuff prices considerably.

Where I'm at is, or at least was until the latest
suburban-sprawl surge, 'farm country'. I hear
it all and the chicken/egg farmers are FRUSTRATED
    by the damned virus.

The 'kill them all' policy is also very bad from
a Darwinian perspective - frustrates the growth
of a naturally-resistant population. To the vast
konspiracy theorists that LOOKS like Joe was
deliberately out to destroy the domestic farmers,
maybe in favor of Canada or even Mexico.
