  • Trump Likely to Modify Mex/Canada Tariffs Very Soon

    Donald Trump could offer Canada and Mexico a compromise on
    tariffs as early as Wednesday, a top Trump administration
    official said.

    Howard Lutnick, the US commerce secretary, told Fox News that
    the US president is planning to “work something out” with
    Canada and Mexico that would limit the impact of the 25 per
    cent export levies introduced on Tuesday morning.

    Mr Lutnick said: “Both the Mexicans and the Canadians were on
    the phone with me all day today trying to show that they’ll
    do better, and the president’s listening, because you know
    he’s very, very fair and very reasonable.

    He added: “It’s not going to be a pause, none of that pause
    stuff, but I think he’s going to figure out: you do more and
    I’ll meet you in the middle some way and we’re going to
    probably announcing that tomorrow.”

    The tariffs led to widespread havoc on stock markets worldwide.

    Trump CAN play it hard - but he'd rather make a deal.

    USA gets something, Mex gets something, Canada gets
    something. Nobody's 100% happy, but the overall
    equation is better.

    Trump just came off a very successful SOTU address
    where he totally dominated the room.

    Poor Elon though - he couldn't give up his phone, too
    many irons in the fire, so he had to sit on the stairs
    outside :-)

    Looks like Trump's folding already ... exemption for automobiles.

    But CAN is saying that they won't revoke their revenge tariffs unless
    Trump drops *everything*.

    If Orange Fat Fuck (OFF) were to reduce the tariffs, he'll look weak. That is anathema to OFF. He'll claim to have got something, but we know he'll have got *nothing*, and OFF won't accept a deal in which it's obvious he got nothing.
