Crews battled wildfires in North and South Carolina on Sunday
amid dry conditions and gusty winds as residents were forced
    to evacuate in some areas.

The National Weather Service warned of increased fire danger
in the region due to a combination of critically dry fuels
    and very low relative humidity.

In South Carolina, where more than 175 fires burned 6.6 square
miles (17 square kilometers), Gov. Henry McMaster declared a
state of emergency on Sunday to support the wildfire response
effort, and a statewide burning ban remained in effect.

    . . .

    Not just California .....

Early freezes, but not much snow, left everything
    brown.

The sheer volume of forests in that area kinda
    precludes any large-scale "cleaning" efforts.

Meanwhile Trump/Musk is firing staff at
that very same National Weather Service.

Serves them right, they didn't respond to
the "name your accomplishments!" demand in
    time..........

In his first term, Trump suggested California
should be “raking” their forests to clean up
    dead brush and trees.

    Try the Weather Channel instead.

A cousin of mine once expressed interest in studying
meteorology ... I told her that the only profession
LESS reputable than "lawyer" was "meteorologist" :-)

Where do you think the Weather Channel
    gets its data from?

Some of us remember life before hurricane
tracking. Lots of people died thinking it was
    just another rainstorm.
