Texas and Florida rocket toward faceoff over NASA HQ

The agency’s search for a new home after its Washington
lease expires in 2028 sets the stage for a battle between
    the two Trump-aligned states.

    . . .

BOTH have a fair case and claim.

Florida/KSC might be more logical. However, with the
fabled 'Space Center Houston' and Musk, Texas may
think of itself as 'the future'.

In this budget-aware time, splitting the HQ is
    not gonna work.

Both areas are OK, both OK to live in - though
the Houston area has more lifestyle options.
Florida would put the bosses right next to the
main launch center however - look out the
window to see how things are going.

    So, coin toss ???

    The public will always remember
"Houston, the Eagle has landed" and
"Houston, we have a problem". Houston
is NASA, keep it that way.

Well, wouldn't have been "Houston" except for LBJs
    pork-barrel instincts :-)

But ... I would side, slightly, with Houston over
    Titusville.

However the proximity to the main launch site, to
hear/see/feel 'em taking off - that "right THERE"
experience ... that still makes Florida pretty
    attractive.

As said, may come down to a coin toss.

Proximity to the lauch site is pretty
much irrelevant, as proven by the European
Space Agency doing their launches from French
    Guiana, in........South America.

No, that does not prove "irrelevancy" at all.

A close "connection" DOES affect thinking.

Ever been near a Saturn booster on take-off ?
I have. Makes all the theory all so REAL.
The energy, the tech to contain it ... it's

While I've never been to a launch in person, I did visit
the Kennedy Space Center and the Saturn V is incredibly massive.
The F-1 engines are massive. Much bigger than I ever thought they would be.
