    . . .

Hackman was a constant feature in movies from
the 70s to early 2000s. Tended to play a very
practical, smart, hard-ass figure. Good actor.

    Followup :

His WIFE and a DOG were also found dead at the
scene. Cops have now labeled it 'suspicious'
and don't rule out foul play. They'd been dead
    for a number of days.

Hackman was found dead in the laundry room,
his wife in the bathroom. He 'appeared to
have fallen', as did the wife.

    Some speculate carbon monoxide, autopsies
    will reveal.

Hackman was a regular feature in Santa Fe, quietly riding his
bike around town having retired from Hollywood decades ago. Good
    for him.

But now this is a potential criminal investigation alas. Kinda
    ignominious end ...

The fact the dog died still makes me think it was an accident.

Two dogs (outside I believe) lived. The other was in a crate.
The people's bodies were much decomposed, indicating a long
time lapse. Perhaps the crated dog died of thirst/starvation.

    :-(

Indeed. A crated dog is no threat to
any burglar, and acts of murder/suicide
never include pets. Obviously the case is
still open, but I just don't fathom this
    being a crime scene.

This all just gets weirder and weirder. They
DID confirm today that there were no signs of
external trauma - nobody beat/stabbed/shot them.

Also confirmed no carbon monoxide. Hackman did
have a newer-model pacemaker ... and they said
the last data from it was about three weeks ago.
Dunno if that means he died three weeks ago or
just that the thing just gave up trying to bring
him back to life three weeks ago.

    No gas leak either.

The dog apparently died from lack of water, the
other two dogs were OK, indeed running in and
    out of the house.

Finally, no strong drugs in the house ... a few
    old-people heart/blood-pressure pills and Tylenol
but nothing hard-core. More tox data coming in
    a week or two.

One possibility ... botulism. Ate some bad food
and rapidly dropped dead. A neurotoxin would
explain why they both seemed discoordinated
and dropped in their tracks, why the wife
could not handle a jar of pills and spilled
    them all over.

If ONE person drops dead that's a simpler case,
but TWO in the same house, apparently the same
time, with so few clues - very puzzling.

Hackman's "last film" may wind up being a TV
    docu-drama about his death.

That would be morbid beyone belief. He was

    leave him alone.
