In a way, I think this shows that Trump and Putin do think more alike
than say, Putin and any typical E.U. Leader. Rules and appeals to rules
and order don't work if you don't have the power to back it up, and we
just don't. It's either a deal, or a long war with Russia, which we may
    lose anyway.

IF you side with Zelensky, then do tell us please how you plan to DEFEAT Russia. Siding with Zelensky, saying that he should not give Russia a millimeter, all that bluster is worthless unless you can defeat Russia
in this war, and how do you plan to do that?

    I have 2 theories.

    1. It was a staged setup.

    2. Zelensky had no idea who he was dealing with regarding Trump and assumed this was another meeting with the walking corpse Joe Biden so he made demands and was destroyed by Trump and Vance.

    I'm leaning towards #2 but I really can't decide.
This will take some time to play out.

That was a possible - "pro wrestling' intended to

Ukraine is *difficult* for a number of reasons. The
quicker Trump can at least end the shooting the better.
He has to look victorious, Putin has to look victorious,
and the wants of Ukraine, well, they'll fit some of
that in there somewhere. Zel can't be making demands,
and neither can the EU. Zel *can't* really win and the
EU has barely done a damned thing but complain the
    entire war.

Trump WAS right - told Zel that his current track
    would only lead to WW3.

(of some concern, Ukraine did give Russia back their
nukes after the USSR breakup - but say they DO have
    a stock of weapons-grade raw plutonium. It's 1940s
tech, they could BUILD some functional nukes pretty
damned quick. "Destabilizing" doesn't even begin to
    cover that)

    Yep - ain't the movies ....

Trump is a fundamentally different type of politician to what we
typically get in the West. We have become accustomed to politicians
taking a MORAL stance, where Trump is taking a PRACTICAL stance.

This freaks the usual career pols, especially those
in the EU. "The REASONABLE THING ??? Where's the
optics in THAT ??? Who covers our expenses if the
    USA won't anymore ???!!!".

"Practical" and "moral/ethical" are not mutually
    exclusive, mostly.

Like it or not, sometimes the good guys lose. Saying it shouldn't

in this war, and how do you plan to do that?

I side with Zels mission, understand his outrage.
However countries get messed-up all the time and
it's sucky and immoral and whatever. Alas Zel is
in no position to try and bully a POTUS. Trump and
Vance caught on to that immediately and launched
this extraordinary counter-attack right in front
    of a big audience.

So ... Ukraine is not gonna solve its problems -
someone ELSE is gonna do what it (and the EU)
can't and they're all just gonna have to LIVE
with the practical compromise until something
else in the world shifts all the realities around.
Putin won't live forever - but it's possible his
successor will be even WORSE and not as smart.

Russia's Defense Ministry said early Thursday that it shot down 19
Ukrainian drones across the country and annexed Crimea overnight,
while authorities in the southwestern Belgorod region said one
    person was killed.

"A civilian was killed when an explosive device was dropped from

According to Gladkov, another man sustained multiple shrapnel

    treatment.

Russia's Defense Ministry said three Ukrainian drones were shot
down over the Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine.

    <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Morat>

The Battle of Morat took place during the Burgundian Wars
(1474–1477) that was fought on 22 June 1476 between Charles the
Bold, the Duke of Burgundy, and a Swiss Confederate army at Morat
(Murten), about 30 kilometres from Bern. The result was a crushing
defeat for the Burgundians at the hands of the Swiss.

IF you side with Zelensky, then do tell us please how you plan to DEFEAT
    Russia.

    Defeat?

The founding fathers had no plan
to "defeat" Britain, Nixon had no plan
to "defeat" N Vietnam, Israel had no
plan to "defeat" Egypt, Poland had no
plan to "defeat" Germany in 1939.

Most wars are not about "defeat"
    but estabishing borders and political
    recognition and sovereignty.

Ukraine only seeks to repel an
invasion of its country. Is that so
    wrong?

The point isn't whether what Ukraine wants to do is right or wrong, the point is whether Russia can be defeated.

Poland did NOT defeat Nazi Germany. They were occupied by a
totalitarian power at the start of the war, and remained captive at the
end. The country lost 20% of its population to end up under the shadow
    of Communism.

The Founding Fathers (of the US) only had to kick the Brits out, or get
them to accept surrender. But Russia is not Britain. Egypt is not
    Russia either.

Siding with Zelensky, saying that he should not give Russia a
millimeter, all that bluster is worthless unless you can defeat Russia
in this war, and how do you plan to do that?

Why should Zelensky give up an inch
of his country to a hostile invading army?

He doesn't have to. Just be willing to lose thousands more men to do
so. Just be willing to spend tens, or hundreds of billions more to do
that. Those are real people, dying terrible, agonizing deaths.

The "blow up" wasn't because Zelensky wants to continue to fight, its
because he wants to continue to fight WITH US support. The war is
partly a proxy war between US and Russia anyway, so its not Zelensky's
    call alone.

As I said, you can't assume you get all you want in a war. By the way,
if you look at WWII, Britain ended the war LOSING. They failed to
protect their empire. They failed to keep Poland free and failed to
defend the balance of power. It should also be noted, that Hitler did
not seek a World War. We like to portray him as someone who deliberated
wanted a world war, but he, and his generals were wary of starting
another world war, particularly since they experienced, first hand, the
First World War. Hitler thought his military adventures would be short,
swift. Does Putin want World War 3? Very unlikely. Does Putin perhaps
want the Baltic states? Maybe. But are we willing to go to war, with
    an unknown outcome over that?

Hence the need for a deal, for diplomacy. YOU are not going to fight
and die for Ukraine, and most of those who have the flag in their Social
Media bio aren't either. Most European leaders can't either, they don't
have the army. They need the US, and the US has voted an administration
which clearly thinks a deal is in THEIR better interest than war.

So again, how would YOU kick the Russians out?

    Well?

Yep, Hollowhead crawls back under his rock

    Remember, WWII with
Japan ended when Japan came to realize they could not win without
destroying their country and losing most of their people. Do a
search for the losses of people and equipment for both sides of this
war. You will be shocked. Putin was wrong to invade as he did, but
there are economic ways of making him pay, rather than destroying
    both countries.

    America didn't agree to Japanese

    The usual balderdash from crockpot.

What do you suggest Zelensky do to end the war?

Neither Trump nor Putin want to end the war unless they can get ahold
    of Ukraine's natural resources.

Trump blew it by yammering insanely about "World War III".

A global spectacle of a foolish, out-of-control President and a cavilling VP
sticking a shiv in the back of an ally.

    Heh heh:

Still can't get over Kamala having lost the election, I see. Picture
for a moment Kamala and Walz replacing the current president and VP in
    this setting.

    OMG!
It would be like 2 retards looking for a quarter in the corner of a round room.
More proof that "pothole" is an ultra-flamboyant male fag. That's not a simile used by women.
