A hypothesis is a reversible conjecture.

A theory is a testable hypothesis.

But uncertainty and entropy get in the way of reversal of any conjecture.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncertainty_principle

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entropy

Deduction and induction may still be the end result.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deductive_reasoning

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inductive_reasoning

But even empiricism and statistics are left to be just conjecture?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empiricism

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statistical_assumption

While on the topic, is variance a better word for entropy?

What is not? And why, if we do, do we?
