start the class by mentioning that if you've not had a
pre-calculus class that perhaps you should do that first...
almost all of my trouble in calc was because i didn't have
pre-calc first. i had no idea what the guy was talking about
aside from the fact that he was more often talking to his
calculator than to the class.
