    I would be very grateful for any suggestions as to the first name of the mother [surname unknown] of Israel BRATSPIES as shown in the Death Certificate at the URL shown below.

    In addition, a transcription to today’s German of the 3 first handwritten lines concerning the informer who was the daughter of Israel, Henreitte, will be very helpful too.

    I read the name as Jotha, which might be a nickname,
    because it is the name for the letter "i".

    I want to warmly thank you for your quick and thorough reply. This information is a tremendous help to me. Again, I greatly appreciate your help.

    I do have one last question based on your reply but only answer if you have the time to reply. You wrote that you thought that the first name of Israel BRATSPIES was “Jotha”, which might be a nickname because it is the name for the letter “i”.

    Do you mean that there is an “i” at the end of the name which would make the name “Jothai”? Or did you mean something else? For example, did you mean that this was a foreign word that used the letter “i” and that an alternative German
    spelling was used (for example: Meier might be Meyer.) I was not quite sure on this point.
