Hello Nancy,
The Nedham family of Jamaica are connected to the Needham family of Shropshire and Ireland who are the Earls of Kilmorey.
The Colonel George Nedham who married Mary Byam was the grandson of Thomas Needham, the younger brother of the 1st Viscount Kilmorey, and Eleanor Bagenal, whose family had large estates in Ireland ganted to her grandfather, Sir Nicholas Bagenal.
George's son, Robert Nedham who was born in 1972 inherited large estates in Ireland from his cousin Nicholas Bagenal who died in 1712 without any family. Robert Nedham passed those estates to his son also Robert Nedham and his grandson William Nedham who
were both MPs for the town of Newry in Ireland, neither of whom visited Jamiaca.
William died with no family and his estates passed to his distant cousin, Robert Needham, 11th Viscount Kilmorey.
I was at school in Newry and the history of this family is intertwined with the history of the area.
