There were no poll in 2015 and 2016.
One likely reason is that the original owner Scot Rasmussen was seriously sick at 2015, cancer
if I remember correctly. He sold the organization. Polling on the very important issue probably
    stopped because of staffing change.

The polling also stopped after 2018.
    My guess: Rasmussen.com is pro-GOP.
Some might hope that the US government might have more consent under Trump. The results said otherwise. So the polling stopped after the 2018 survey.

It does not want to cast negative light on the Trump Administration. Actually, the headlines were
less sharp for polls held under Trump. Headlines between the 2017, 2018 reports were also
slightly different from previous poll reports.

"Isaiah Berlin, one of the 20th century's greatest thinkers, believed that "the central question of
politics [is] the question of obedience and coercion." At its most basic level, the scholar framed
the question like this: "Why should I (or anyone) obey anyone else?"

That question goes right to the core of discussions about how a government can earn the legitimacy
it needs to function. It's the question our Founders had in mind when they said that governments
derive their only just authority from the consent of the governed. It's a question that needs to be
asked at a time when a majority of Americans view both leading presidential candidates unfavorably.
    ...
In recent years, the tech industry has provided amazing new tools to empower these core beliefs. We
can celebrate our freedom by personalizing our own digital experience. At the same time, digital platforms
help us find exciting new ways of working together in community. More than ever before, we are able to
channel the great diversity of our nation in ways that create a better world.

The success of the tech world comes from the fact that the new tools have to earn our support...

Unfortunately, the political world makes no such effort to earn our support. Unelected and unaccountable
bureaucrats simply pass rules without giving any thought to why we should obey them. The rules are
imposed in a top-down manner with no pretense of being justified by the consent of the governed."

    1. The US government is not "most government."
    2. The issue is whether the US government is legitimate according to its own view since George Washington.

The last poll on this important question related was carried out Aug 13, 2018. Since then no poll organization
chooses to touch this issue. Why?

Are they so sure that the US government would fail the "Consent of the Governed" badly again? Hence, poll
organization choose not to ask the question to preclude further embarrassment. On the other hand, if one read news analysis from American commentators and hear the US officials, both
group still insist America democracy is still pole star of the current world order. Why?

The rules are
imposed in a top-down manner with no pretense of being justified by the consent of the governed."

    https://www.creators.com/read/scott-rasmussen/05/16/can-government-regain-the-consent-of-the-governed

Why?

The Washington Post's slogan is "Democracy Dies in Darkness."
But refusing to explain why the US government still has consent of the people although the people had said
"NO" every time they were asked the question. A more appropriate slogan should be:

    "Democracy Exists in Darkness."

    "Abstract
This study explored whether the tendency of chimpanzees and children to use emulation or imitation to solve a tool-using task was a response to the availability of causal information. Young wild-born chimpanzees from an African sanctuary and 3- to 4-year-
old children observed a human demonstrator use a tool to retrieve a reward from a puzzle-box. The demonstration involved both causally relevant and irrelevant actions, and the box was presented in each of two conditions: opaque and clear. In the opaque
condition, causal information about the effect of the tool inside the box was not available, and hence it was impossible to differentiate between the relevant and irrelevant parts of the demonstration. However, in the clear condition causal information
was available, and subjects could potentially determine which actions were necessary. When chimpanzees were presented with the opaque box, they reproduced both the relevant and irrelevant actions, thus imitating the overall structure of the task. When
the box was presented in the clear condition they instead ignored the irrelevant actions in favour of a more efficient, emulative technique. These results suggest that emulation is the favoured strategy of chimpanzees when sufficient causal information
is available. However, if such information is not available, chimpanzees are prone to employ a more comprehensive copy of an observed action. In contrast to the chimpanzees, children employed imitation to solve the task in both conditions, at the expense
of efficiency. We suggest that the difference in performance of chimpanzees and children may be due to a greater susceptibility of children to cultural conventions, perhaps combined with a differential focus on the results, actions and goals of the
    demonstrator."

Being human also means the propensity to uncritically accept frequently repeated irrelevancy.
This tendency to accept contributes to make human great. But it has its pitfall.
Election is salient to being democracy and/or the consent of the governed is of one such example.

Yes, consent of the governed, ie the people is the foundation of democracy. From now on, there should be laws introduced in which policies are introduced by people and its decisions are voted by people, and hence not by government leader and members .

They have to go out on a daily basis to see and listen to people's problems and should be paid in hourly basis and are not allowed to sit in cushion offices for more than 2 hours per day. They are not allowed to write cock and bull story on things and

Democracy is always a matter of granularity in terms of group size and time duration.
No government can satisfy every groups every unit of time.

On the supply side democratic governance, i.e., the consent of the governed,
depends on the capability of the government in terms how much resource, both human talent and physical wealth, it has. On the demand side, it depends on the
citizens' willingness to play follow the leader to what degree.

    "Abstract
This study explored whether the tendency of chimpanzees and children to use emulation or imitation to solve a tool-using task was a response to the availability of causal information. Young wild-born chimpanzees from an African sanctuary and 3- to 4-
year-old children observed a human demonstrator use a tool to retrieve a reward from a puzzle-box. The demonstration involved both causally relevant and irrelevant actions, and the box was presented in each of two conditions: opaque and clear. In the
opaque condition, causal information about the effect of the tool inside the box was not available, and hence it was impossible to differentiate between the relevant and irrelevant parts of the demonstration. However, in the clear condition causal
information was available, and subjects could potentially determine which actions were necessary. When chimpanzees were presented with the opaque box, they reproduced both the relevant and irrelevant actions, thus imitating the overall structure of the
task. When the box was presented in the clear condition they instead ignored the irrelevant actions in favour of a more efficient, emulative technique. These results suggest that emulation is the favoured strategy of chimpanzees when sufficient causal
information is available. However, if such information is not available, chimpanzees are prone to employ a more comprehensive copy of an observed action. In contrast to the chimpanzees, children employed imitation to solve the task in both conditions, at
the expense of efficiency. We suggest that the difference in performance of chimpanzees and children may be due to a greater susceptibility of children to cultural conventions, perhaps combined with a differential focus on the results, actions and goals
    of the demonstrator."

Being human also means the propensity to uncritically accept frequently repeated irrelevancy.
This tendency to accept contributes to make human great. But it has its pitfall.
Election is salient to being democracy and/or the consent of the governed is of one such example.

In the experiment, the subjects were supposed to follow the demonstrator's two activities to get
a reward from a box. One of the activity was relevant to the delivery of the reward and the other
irrelevant. If an opaque box was used, relevant activity could not be differentiated from irrelevant
activity. If a transparent box was used, relevant activity could be readily differentiated from irrelevant
    activity.

With an opaque box, both human and chimp subjects carried out both relevant and irrelevant activities.
With a transparent box, chimps subjects carried out ONLY relevant activity. In contrast, human subjects
continued to carried out both irrelevant activities.

Germane to the issue raised by the first post of this thread are these:
    1. Is election irrelevant to democracy?
    2. If so, what gives the US any semblance of being a democracy?

    My HYPOTHESIS:
US system is a theocracy masquerading as a democracy.
Voting is irrelevant. Religious citizens faithful to their GOD given their consent is the defining feature of
    US democracy.
