Besides, in the long run, Welfare pays better than any "living wage":

She does have a point regarding welfare vs minimum wage. Something needs to be done. It's one
of the reasons people are not returning to work, especially in the low wage service industry.
The problem with socialism is that at some point the people footing the bill via taxes,
usually the middle class, run out and the system collapses.
