Baltimore sheriff�s deputies on Friday arrested a 16-year-old who they say
was released from custody earlier this month after a city circuit court
clerk erroneously marked the teen�s case as having been dismissed.

The teen had been free for almost two weeks after being inadvertently
released from custody June 4, said James Bentley, spokesperson for the
city state�s attorney�s office.

An employee with the Clerk of Court for the Circuit Court of Baltimore on
June 2 marked the pending murder case against the 16-year-old as having
been dropped by prosecutors, the city sheriff�s office said in a news
release.

Bentley said the state�s attorney�s case management system alerted the prosecutor Thursday about the defendant�s case being marked as dismissed �
when it shouldn�t have been.

The prosecutor subsequently notified a judge, who issued a warrant for the teen�s arrest the same day, according to the news release.
