    There are several variations of that quotation, and that one doesn't
    look at all authentic. Here's the one I've seen most often:


    First they came for the Communists
    And I did not speak out
    Because I was not a Communist

    Then they came for the Socialists
    And I did not speak out
    Because I was not a Socialist

    Then they came for the trade unionists
    And I did not speak out
    Because I was not a trade unionist

    Then they came for the Jews
    And I did not speak out
    Because I was not a Jew

    Then they came for me
    And there was no one left
    To speak out for me

    I posted this to AUE and some intelligent person pointed out that
    Communist was substituted for Socialist at some point. I would say
    perhaps that's what you were thinking but your pea-brain wouldn't have
    known that.
