    THREE WAYS YOU CAN HELP

Over the past two weeks we have witnessed a draconian clampdown on both
freedom of speech and the rights to protest. People are currently being arrested and handed heavy sentences for simply posting things to social
media or being present when disorder took place. Others have been given shockingly long custodial sentences for what are in fact minor offences
that would usually be dealt with via community orders.

These inequalities in the so-called ‘justice’ system must be exposed – and
that has happening all over social media, with a number of large accounts bringing attention to this scandal.

However, we must also help those who have been affected by this scandal and help to provide for their families in their time of need. In order to do
    this, we must:

ONE: Set up a support network to identify those who have been victims of
the system’s discriminatory policies. We must then help those people by writing to them, offering them moral support and if possible, informing
them of their rights to they can potentially appeal their sentences.

You can help do this by joining our campaign:

TWO: We must support the families of those who have been unfairly jailed.
In some cases mothers and those who are carers have been imprisoned. This
would not have happened if those people were from ethnic minority
communities, and there are examples of migrant rapists escaping jail in
order to ‘care’ for their relatives and partners. We are currently raising money for the families of those who have been jailed.

THREE: Many of the harsh sentences have been a result of those arrested entering guilty pleas. We must educate people in their rights and ensure
that those arrested fight their cases and seek proper legal advice –
already people have been imprisoned without any evidence of wrong doing
simply on the basis that they were pressured into entering a guilty plea.
With the help of a legal professional we have prepared a handy document to
help advise those who may be arrested.
