Hello there everyone!
New MIDI files have been added to the site http://come.to/radonr/. This time around, although the inspiration behind these tunes always remain the same - I'm a huge jazz fan remember? - we tried to give a whole new perspective to Malagasy music on the internet. In a nutshell, the songs included in this latest release and arranged in the album called "Masindah" - named after a slanged version of the Malagasy word for Saint - have a rather jazzy/funky feel; yet they are sacred Catholic music well-known around Madagascar.
Yes, you heard right ... sacred Catholic music. Some of the people who knows my work are familiar with the fact that I've played a lot in church during masses - particularly back in my high school years - and it has always been
a very important part of both my personal and artistic life. Well, I guess you could say this album is my tribute to these many years of playing with God and for God. What other best way to thank Him but through a couple of drums solos and some funky hammond B3 chords? - Note: that's the artist talking.
Some of the pieces on that album are:
- "Reny mpitari-dalana" (A song for the Virgin Mary) arranged in a jazz
waltz tempo and with some trading solos between a standup polytone and a
jazz drumkit/brushes.
- "Faingana rey olona" (A tune for the Advent season) which is a mix of a simple bossa nova beat and a 4/4 pop funk layered with some slap bass counterpoints.
There are of course several new tunes so swing by anytime you have a minute. The site has also been arranged to load faster and to be compatible with virtually every browser out there. And I forgot ... there are other updates too (the lyrics of Andy Razaf for example.)
Best regards and happy holidays!
