A Boston sports radio personality used a racist slur in reference to an
ESPN personality of Asian descent during a show on Wednesday.
As the hosts of WEEIs Greg Hill Show discussed the possibility of a potential ban on nips miniature bottles of alcohol in the city of
Boston, their executive producer took advantage to make a racist joke at
the expense of an ESPN personality. After Hill and co-host Courtney Cox suggested that they rank their top five favorite nips and began listing
off a pair of brands, Curtis interjected with Mina Kimes.
Kimes, an NFL analyst who appears on various ESPN shows, is of Korean
descent on her mothers side.
Nip is an ethnic slur which targets Japanese people it is an
abbreviation of Nippon, the Japanese name for the country of Japan that gained prominence during World War II.

In a bizarre attempt at spinning the story, a spokesperson at WEEIs
parent company Audacy suggested to the Boston Globes Chad Finn that
Curtis meant to say actress Mila Kunis rather than Kimes. The spokesperson added that the company had no comment.
ESPN released a statement to the Globe saying There is no place for these
type of hateful comments, which were uncalled for and extremely
offensive.
The segment was inspired by Boston City Councilor Ricardo Arroyos plan to formally present a proposal to outlaw the small alcohol bottles, which
often end up littered, per Finn.
It is the second high-profile racist incident at a Boston sports radio
station in the past month. In February, Tony Massarotti was suspended by
98.5 The Sports Hub for a racially-insensitive joke made on the air.
