The Cake House is an innovative and modular home concept that
was presented at the Designblok festival in Prague.
. . .
Look a bit like something you might see at a ski resort.
Basically these are 2Br wooden houses. All the 'functional'
stuff like the kitchen is on the bottom floor and living
quarters inside the high 'attic' space. They look nice and
are likely quite functional (except for older people who
can't climb many stairs anymore).
Oh, don't try them in Florida - the high wood roof will
be the first thing to go with the next hurricane.
But, for central Europe, there should a considerable market
for such homes. They are "just enough", affordable and
attractive.
Depending on exact locale, a concrete lower floor
might be a safety variant. Also saves some trees.
