Ummmmm ... I can understand yer perspective here - people
DO tend to fall into two or three "camps" where certain
ideological principles concentrate (sometimes rot). However
the USA has always done best when - on AVERAGE - the political
tilt winds up fairly close to the center.
That does not mean individuals have to be 'moderates' - ain't
gonna happen - but that when it comes down to the wire the NET
RESULT of all parties needs to produce laws and regs that are
NOT very extremist, more the 'sensible center'.
You cannot please all of the people all of the time, but you
can often get them to, grudgingly, adhere to more centrist
sociopolitical reality that's not TOO evil for any relevant
faction.
When NOT done like this - well - those SHITHOLE COUNTRIES are
in the news every week ... another massacre, another atrocity,
another coup and heads literally rolling in the streets.
No peace, no gain - NO FUTURE.
Consider the "abortion thing" ... there IS NO actual answer,
science/philosophy/religion will not resolve the issue. It's
just one of those "people things". As such it is nothing but
DAMAGE to try and force any one extreme spectrum of laws/regs ...
gotta thread the needle, *something* for every faction.
Neither Dems or GOP seem to "get" that at present ... bad !
They seek to push people to one or another untenable extreme
just so they can score more donations/votes.
One advantage to modern "democracies" ... no matter what the
party label on reps lapels, peel it off and it says "Fuckin'
POLITICIAN" underneath. The REAL diffs between reps is FAR
less than their propaganda lines.
Not at ALL obsolete ... read yer Machiavelli. He studied past
and present and really seemed to understand What Works and Why.
I see him every day in the 'news'.
