Instead of Cuba and Mexico Central and South America, my generation of high school kids graduating from high school were told we have a "military obligation" to fulfill. The former chief of police of
Derry, New Hampshire handed me a full tuition scholarship to the University of New Hampshire. I asked the kids I graduated with what they were going to do once they graduated from from Pinkerton Academy. They all said the same thing. They were going to
get their "military obligation" out of the way.
We all had a "military obligation" to fulfill. That's what we were told.
They "served" or spent 5 years in prison or and pay a quarter million dollars. That's what it means to be an American. During the Vietnam War.
However, if you go to college, you can get a deferment.
In fact, you may not have to serve at all. Get another 4 year deferment by going to law school.
A military obligation for MALES ONLY makes sense in peace time for defense of the country.

We ended the war in Vietnam by not taking care of secular communism in our hemisphere. Now we don't deal with secular communists in the western hemisphere while shipping American manufacturing
