Scientists from the University of Tokyo have developed a
set of robotic arms that can be attached to a user's back.
These arms mimic the appearance of Otto Octavius (also known
as Doctor Octopus), a fictional character and one of Spider-Man's
most enduring enemies, who wields mechanical, tentacle-like
appendages.
Called "Jizai Arms," the wearable backpack can power up to six
detachable robot arms and moves with the user's body.

. . .
VERY weird lesbo-erotic video of the rigs being used ...
There are still two bits missing - finer control and
a better power supply. Recent work on interpreting
brain-waves can likely fix the first issue pretty soon.
Meanwhile, how MANY Chinese batteries do you want to
strap to your back ? :-)
I once saw a demo of that Japanese robot dog and it was pretty cool.
Welcome to the future :)
'Albo' and derivatives ?
The Boston Dynamics "dogs" are more useful, and already
in the field. The company also has a large near-gymnastic
humanoid bot called 'Atlas'. Just needs a good AI brain ...
Anyhow, the multi-arm rig CAN be of considerable practical
use once they improve the fine control. Humans can 're-map'
bits of the brain to incorporate external devices - you can
even play sensory info on the skin of the back and, after
awhile, the brain will start feeling it as extra arms/hands.
There may be some drugs now that make that happen sooner,
'plasticity enhancers'.
As for "Albo" - he doesn't really love you ... but e-motions
can be made for AI's. I think there's a 5-dimensional e-space
model I saw that even allowed for weird stuff like love+hate.
