Let's put it this way, there are more guns than
people in the USA.
We don't know how many guns are in the USA (the best we can do is an
educated estimate); however, that statement isn't counter-intuitive.
Same goes for most countries outside the USA.
We don't have a *clue* about "most countries outside the USA"; thus,
that is a meaningless statement. We can't even make a data-supported
guess because we have no data.
So yea, the Bad Guys will ALWAYS be well armed.
Which simply repeats your original premise.

I asked how you knew that. I *know* we're awash in guns. My point is
that countries with effective gun laws *do* disarm criminals....
Which countries are those?
<crickets>
... It's also central to my thesis that we have never tried effective
gun laws.
What you describe as "effective," we describe as "draconian."
Slavery is always effective for the slave owners.
Besides, I've not seen any consistent evidence that gun control laws
actually reduce violent crime or murder in such countries. AT MOST it might change the means used somewhat.. but that's about it.
Based on this, it is my position that we should *try* effective gun
laws. In places where they work, these include:
First you would need to establish that they actually *are* effective.
Universal Background Checks
Unenforceable without...
No evidence presented they are effective.. he has simply asserted they are.
Gun Registration
Illegal and repugnant to a free people.
And no evidence presented they are effective.. he has simply asserted they
are.
After all.. all legal guns in Mexico are registered.. yet gun crime is
rampant. Same in Brazil.
Legal Responsibility
Liberals hate responibility; they embrace victimhood.
You mean actually working to lock up criminals that use guns in violent
crimes?
Strange then that liberal DA do all they can to KEEP from doing that.
The problem is when he talks of "legal responsibility" he wants to blame innocent people for getting their guns stolen. NOT the violent criminal having/using guns in crime.
If we have those points, I doubt that the "assault rifle" nonsense
will make any difference.
I doubt it would make any difference without them. Because we have very few legal assault rifles and the only ones ever used in crime were by police officers.
If the manufacture is held responsible,
assault rifles will disappear of their own accord.
How are they responsible?
Should we do that to Ford and General Motors, too?
Yea, and let's not forget the food manufactures for causing obesity.
Oh, I know, let's hold politicians responsible for bad public policy by throwing them in jail when their policies fail to work as promised.
Not only would that get rid of the stupid politicians passing stupid laws..
but most of the gun control laws as well...
