• Love For The Enemy (Mathew 5:44)

From fault tolerant systems@21:1/5 to All on Sat Dec 24 13:11:43 2022
In general, war tempts us to go down to the level of our enemy.
The rule of the thumb appears to be: if we engage the enemy, the
conflict will be on his level.

We must preserve our peace, despite bloodshed and crimes against
humanity of the enemy. If we retaliate with a rape for a rape, be only
become rapists, and not innocent victim any longer.

If we retaliate with murder of civilian population to the murder of
our civilians, we might have "got even", but we lose the rights of
an innocent victim. Jesus told us he will give us peace above all
reason and understanding. People will not realise why we do not
reply evil for evil, and neither will we, because we are a different
person after accepting Jesus as Saviour.

Religion teaches about "just war", and even some military operations
were called "Just Cause", but ever since the Crusades, just causes
fell when the combatants committed atrocities themselves.

The vengeance to evil deed belongs to God Creator: "Vengeance is Mine,
    I will repay!"

Abigail warned (then already anointed king) David against acquiring
justice by his own hand when her husband Nabal insulted him. David
repented and relented from his action of just rage. The result was
Nabal's death in ten days without David having to make his hands bloody.

The standards of the New Testament are even higher: to ascend into
Kingdom of Heaven, we must perform heavy duty of blessing those
who curse us, without cheating and cursing them in our heart (which
the LORD hated in Old Testament already). We must love our enemies,
pray for them, and feed them when they are hungry.

Even in the Old Testament, in the Law of Moses, there was the first
Commandment of God's grace: "Thou shalt not avenge or bear grudge
against the sons of thy people! I am the LORD!"

As in the case of king David and Nabal, we must patiently wait for
    God's hand to move.

David is described as the man who grieved when his enemies died,
because they were once good to him. This was mocked by the youths
of the enemy, though the elder men understood and respected that.

If is a prerogative that we do not take justice in our own hands.

I was once in a war in 1995, and we had some enemies captured.
While some of our soldiers boasted in how they will beat the
craps out of them, I saw that as needless sadism, and gave them
instead something to work to be useful (less likely to be abused).
I could not stay there and check up on them, so I trusted them to
the LORD (I already had a NKJV Bible with me and accepted Jesus
    as Saviour).

The other one boasted how the beaten enemy's combatant will
not survive their beating, but I persuaded the reluctant physician
    to patch him up.

The two captured enemy's soldiers looked like some scared people
who were probably abused by their own psychopaths for five years
and now it got worse for them. I know that Chetniks are known to
be sneaky and not to be trusted, but these two seemed like some
normal, common people (and were shaved).

Needless cruelty is inseparable from children of Satan, sworn
loyal to sin, arrogance and violence.

Besides, we know well that Russians are reluctant to join this
"special operation" of Mr. Putin and that many surrendered.
Killing virtually innocent recruits who haven't fired a bullet
would needlessly increase hatred. Many would surrender
only if given asylum in the EU if it weren't for the chain of
command and a gun against their heads in case of disobedience.
They are not defending their homes and families, except for the
Donbas Russians, who are afraid for them sincerely.
And I know it is not the Ukrainian way to shed innocent blood or to
execute ancient vengeance (which the LORD also hated):

    Ezekiel 25
15 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge, and have taken vengeance with a despiteful heart, to destroy it for the OLD HATRED; 16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will stretch out mine hand upon the Philistines,
and I will cut off the Cherethims, and destroy the remnant of sea coast. 17 And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.

Mr. Putin is obviously misguided and misinformed, and he built such
environment that doesn't allow error reports to come to him. Not easily,
    at least.

    Proverbs 24:6
6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellers there is safety.

If some person rejects any advice, then it is upon God to set him
straight. But the Allied army did not open a death camp for the
captured Germans in WW2. Thereof the moral victory, even when
both sides bombed civilian targets to weaken the enemy.

In Iraq in Afghanistan we see the moral loss of the allied troops,
as in Abu Ghraib there were abominable bestiality and sodomic
abuses, and in Afghanistan child birth deformities due to depleted
    uranium ammunition and tank shielding.

No angel of light can justify that, and God had to give up on the
allied forces, no matter how cruel tyranny was of the Iraqi dictator
and how cruel the Taliban were (shooting women on football stadiums).

There is no partiality in God, and He is not obliged to a clan or nation,
nor a religion, as He is Creator of all flesh.

Every man is made in the image of God. But due to fall of Adam
and Eve, many fell under influence of sin and death even when
not committing a sin like Adam (Romans 5). This includes many
Russians, whom God Creator of the Universe wants to save in
Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who took the sins of the world.

Sending Buryats and Chechens to the places where people die the
most reminded me of Bosnian Muslims in the Homeland War a.k.a.
Dirty War, where Bosnians comprise 1% of the population, but
statistically 5% of total victims of war in Croatia. Yet they are
regarded as something worth eradicating alongside remaining
    Serbs.

Minorities proven to be salt of the nations that prevent corruption.
We can see a forest that is artificially planted of one species of
trees, and an insect can multiply and decimate the forest completely.
Natural forests are of mixed trees and species, so something always
survives, and oaks protect chestnuts, and junipers all alone are also vulnerable.

Military machine is something that can go loose and spin out of control.

Ultimately, I have learned that the victory is the LORD's, and we must
win His favour to win the war. The Universe has to see a clear distinction between Ukrainian way and Russian way, or it will look to them like
the difference between Shia and Sunni Muslims looks to you.
Hardly anyone knows what they are fighting and hating each other about.

It has to be valor over crimes against humanity, forgiveness against
    vengeance and love against hatred.

Not because I say so, but because Jesus said so (Matthew 5:44).

    in the LORD
    Amen
