Really? How often? Give us four or five examples, or is that
"Too Often" for 5,000 years of written history?

Research it for yourself. Troy is only the best known
    example.

If Troy is real then so isn't the bible.

You can find places with the same names as are in the bible,
    so the bible is real...

You can find many places and people mentioned in the bible
but that only goes toward validating the existence of those
particular places and people and nothing else.

Gone With the Wind has many real places and people mentioned
but it is hardly a valid account of the Civil War or much of
    anything else.

The problem is that I see no such examples here.

    Especially not Troy, obviously.

You need to cherry pick your rules, apply them in way that
allows you to pretend you're rational. But you're not.

    You believe in fairtales!

    Deport them all.

    The elimination of public expression,

But it's a World Heritage Site. You think it wouldn't be if
an accomplished fraud hadn't called it Troy?

You're citing your priests as authorities, btw.

I am relying upon the expertise of the people who examined
and evaluated the evidence. I have that to be a lot more
reliable than something based on "I believe".

Calling Troy "Real" is saying that the bible is real, because
you can find places with the same names...

    Of course you disagree because

Either you agree with your own alleged logic -- making the
bible real -- or you are a bigger idiot than I gave you
    credit for.

Exactly what do you mean by saying the bible is "real"? A
general statement such as that would also make Gone With the
    Wind real.

There is zero continuity in your mythological "Troy."

    There's only a single source.

I will rely on the peer review which would have covered the
evidence. If it turns out to be wrong it will not exactly
be an unmitigated disaster. The record will be corrected, a
number of people will appear to be idiots, and everyone else
    will just move on.
