Can Pallab Ghosh do science a favor and expose the scam that is the saber toothed tiger. Those big teeth were walrus tusks.
No-one has a Smilodon fossil with sabers attached.
Pallab, perhaps David Attenborough will join you in this mission. Go to California, inspect the world's best fossils of Smilodon.
See if there are any, any at all which were dug up or retrieved from tar pit with attached skull and saber.
I bet zero, zip, nil.
And all the museum displays are glued on, soldiered on, screwed on saber to a Smilodon skull.
The very very first of these con-art Saber tooth tiger reports was from a man in South America who found a separate jaw from a sabre tusk.
And from thereafter-- the public was excited about a cat with teeth that serve no evolutionary function but rather destroy the cat's mobility and life.
No wonder paleontology has a bad name, a bad reputation.
