    Just wondering, does anyone know of experiments to determine
    the effects on both a magnetic field detector and an electric
    field detector of a Van de Graaff generator both moving and
    stationary?

    There really shouldn't be any controversy about that. There will
    be an electric field due to the charges on the dome and a (very
    slight) magnetic field due to the net current running up the belt
    into the dome.

    Is there anything about this that you think might not be completely
    understood?
