Is this something a dentist should fix, or should I go to a different kind of doctor? Maybe it has got nothing to do with teeth?
While it's possible your pain has a non-dental cause, I would certainly
start investigating this with your dentist. I have little knowledge of
how dentistry is administered in the UK. It sounds as if this dentist
has lost your confidence. If you have gone to him more than once with
the same symptoms and he brushes you off (without perhaps referring you
to a specialist) and it is possible, I think you should consult with
another dentist.
Your sensitivity--especially if it responds to heat or cold should be
pretty easy to localize. If your dentist will not do some simple tests
to try to determine the cause, including perhaps new radiographs, I
would certainly go somewhere else if at all possible.
