  • Repair Nesbitt Bridge

    Dr. B, if you are reading this I thank you for an opinion.
    I am overseas and will not see a dentist for a few months.
    The "tooth" on my single tooth Nestbitt bridge split off.
    The metal clasps and base are fine.
    I think the "tooth" is made of acrylic resin. Very hard, very smooth.
    The bridge functions with the remaining "tooth" but I am concerned that
    it will fall off eventually without a repair.
    The pieces fit snuggly but urethane glue, two-part epoxy, Bondix [UV
    cured acrylic] are insufficient to withstand the pressure of use.
    Any hope for a repair with a different glue/solvent?

    Nesbitt Partials are easily swallowed or aspirated. Therefore, I refuse to make one.
    Having said that, it can probably be repaired with methylmethacrylate cured under pressure in hot water. No way to make a reasonable repair at home that will last more than a day.
    The problem with repairing it, is the potential of the dental office then incurring risk if you aspirate or swallow it later.
