Growing swarms of spacecraft in orbit are outshining the stars, and
scientists fear no one will do anything to stop it
STARLINK satellites caused 19 light streaks in this image taken in
November 2019 at the Víctor M. Blanco 4-meter Telescope at the
Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory in Chile. Such streaks threaten
the future of ground-based astronomy.
