Widespread drastic reduction of brain myelin content upon prolonged endurance exercise

    Recent evidence suggests:
myelin lipids may act as glial energy reserves when glucose is lacking, a hypothesis yet to be solidly proven.
Hereby, we examined the effects of running a marathon on the myelin content by MRI.
    Our findings:
marathon runners undergo widespread robust myelin decrease at completion of the effort.
This reduction involves white & gray matter, it includes
    - primary motor & sensory cortical areas & pathways,
    - the entire corpus callosum & internal capsule.
Myelin levels partially recover within 2 weeks after the marathon.
    These results reveal:
myelin use & replenishment is an unprecedented form of metabolic plasticity, aimed to maintain brain function during extreme conditions.

Well it is "Proven" that your body will burns carbs or fat. This is the
whole point of Atkins: Avoid carbs, your body will burn fat instead.

It's also fact that the body will consume itself. At the battle for
Stalingrad, the Germans actually had men dropping dead because
of the excessively poor diet, and their bodies robbing themselves
    to make up the difference.

I used to have to carb count. When my pancreas stopped working
and I was on 54 units of insulin per day. But I have ridiculously
high triglycerides so I couldn't just say, "I'll eat chicken wings three
times a day." I had to track the fat. So I had to count fat, too. But
that was more than 10 years ago, and my pancreas started working
    again...
