    It's a fascinating topic, one riddled with endless speculation,
    but at it's heart it's not about ideas it's about TESTING ideas.

    HOW TO test one's ideas.

    It's something that most people can't quite grasp. Corner any
    "True Believer" and they think it's a done deal. There's nothing
    left to prove much less test, as far as they're concerned, the
    Gov'Ment just has to stop lying and open up Area 51. And the
    Naysayers are exactly the same: Everything is settled, "Testing
    ideas is for pussies."

    But I love the topic for the very reason why morons hate it:

    Because it's not about what the "Truth" is, it's about how one
    goes about TESTING ideas!

    This is what science is about, why it exists! Humans get ideas
    in their head. They're biased. Ill-informed. Lazy. Stupid.

    Superstitious.

    If science is anything at all, it's a process for TESTING ideas
    instead of just "Accepting" them.

    Omg, I'm so brilliant that I sometimes catch myself wishing that
    I could be me!

    But it's true. It's not about what we believe. It's not about pet
    theories or ideas we hate. It's about testing. A hypothesis explains
    the fact, what evidence there is. A hypothesis is testable. It's the
    bases for predictions -- "Tests" -- and if these predictions turn out
    to not be true then the hypothesis is falsified. And it's this
    falsifiability that turns an idea into a legitimate scientific hypothesis.

    ...a "Theory" is just a hypothesis that is so widely accepted or, preferably, as survived for so much time and so many tests that it
    is regarded as true.

    It's all about testability.

    Anything testable is legitimate, anything that isn't testable is a religious belief.
