  • List of New DTV Subchannel networks

    Initially, I was quite disappointed when the switch to digital began, but had become bored with television anyway so in a way it didn't matter. When local stations threw the switch with some fanfare that Friday afternoon, my old analog set went to snow
    and I resolved that I wasn't in a hurry to get a converter box.

    Anyway, after a couple of months, I decided to use one of the $40 government coupons to purchase a converter and used it to buy one at a SEARS store in a nearby shopping mall.

    Originally, I was impressed with digital subchannels but was split down the middle (50/50) as to whether they were worth the loss of channels that I used to be able to get in the analog era but were not coming in digitally.

    Now it will only be a memory how you could still manage to watch a show through the snowy picture of bad reception since digital tuning is all or nothing at all.

    I thought the Associated Press report on the switch to digital from correspondent Ross Simpson raised an eyebrow. It was available on YouTube as recently as December 2015 (watch?v=1ovqj3RJEuE)

    I agree. I still prefer analog to be able to watch for weak signals. :(
