Do consider the demographic: they’re presumably a college graduate,
at at least a Bachelors Degree. As such, what’s that group’s average salary (individual & household)? Clearly, it should be greater than the
    US Median household.

To that end, what’s a household of two such earners really looking at?

    $250K

So you’re simultaneously saying that a couple of college grads who marry
has the same basic expected income of the “wealthy”? Even though
reports note: “For high earners, a three-person family needed an income between $106,827 and $373,894 to be considered upper-middle class”,

No, it does not say that Tommy: the range from $107K to $374K is 'upper-middle',
as per studies on the question; see:

    <https://money.usnews.com/money/personal-finance/family-finance/articles/where-do-i-fall-in-the-american-economic-class-system>

FYI, Pew Research bias rating: <https://www.allsides.com/news-source/pew-research>

Since when does a family pulling in $250k need government ASSISTANCE???

Ideally they shouldn't, but it is hard for older adults to really comprehend just how bad
education costs have gotten. Having $90K in a ten year 6% Student loan results in an
extra $1K/month bill: how much would that change your monthly budget today? Now think back to how much tighter the finances were when you were age 25-30 and just starting out.

Likewise, now double the payment because there's two college grads with loans due.
And finally, recognize that this is the absolute max for qualifying, not the median use case.

    Kevin Hern's $1 million?

That is called WHATABOUTISM and it is a DROP IN THE BUCKET by comparison, anyway. The senile pervert Lyin' Biden wants to spend FIVE HUNDRED to EIGHT HUNDRED BILLION DOLLARS that HAVE NOT been authorized by Congress. This is illegal, Fool. WHO is

All those folks were specifically complaining about the student loan
    forgiveness, Sunshine.

Who is going to pay for the huge tax cuts for the very rich and
    corporations?

Why does "who is going to pay" only come up when the little guy gets a
    break?

Hey Fool, "all those folks" signed contracts promising to repay LOANS. ANY "tax cut" is:
    1. On earned income.
    2. AUTHORIZED by Congress.
You have NO dog in this fight: you are Canadian, but if you were a US citizen the appropriate complaint about taxes should be directed towards you congressman, not me.
I'm simply pointing out your hypocrisy, Sunshine.

Tom, the simple minds here will never comprehend this.

First, what about the folks who went to trade school and took some on-line certification program. What about folks that paid their loans off last week, last month, or last year. What about the people who take out loans going forward.

If a married couple making that kind of money cann't pay their loans, they are idiots, the education they received was a waste.

This was a pander, that backfired. More people are pissed off at this, than it helped. And I am not even sure if the executive branch has the unilateral authority to forgive a financial obligation.

You then missed Republicans claiming up to $1T

I fail to understand how the President can unilaterally forgive a contractual agreement like this.

It was authorized by the HEROS Act .., which was signed by a Republican POTUS.

Regardless, this is probably the most expensive vote buying scheme in history.

Nah, that was the 2017 TCJA, at $2T

And they refuse to say who is paying for this. DUH! The fucking taxpayers.

It’s more that the banks don’t get the interest profits.

I paid off my loans, my wife paid off her loans, …

Which were long ago, back when public colleges were underwritten to the tune of 90% of student expenses, so tuition was cheap.

So just how much were those loans?

…why should I pay off someones elses.

Because you & I both benefit materially from a more educated society.

Especially for bullshit degrees like Gender studies, Dance, medieval art, Wardrome design. Most of these degrees are worthless, …

Interesting claim: got cite on this “most are worthless” bit?

…so I am subsidizing really stupid decisions? LOL!

Given what you’ve revealed of your household and income, it’s not
much of a subsidy that you’re trying to whine about: ballpark it as
Under 1% of the approximate $5K/yr you pay, so that’s all of just
$50 total spread out over the next 10-15 years…

Do consider the demographic: they’re presumably a college graduate,
at at least a Bachelors Degree. As such, what’s that group’s
average salary (individual & household)? Clearly, it should be
greater than the US Median household.

To that end, what’s a household of two such earners really
looking at? Put a number on it.

    $250K

So you’re simultaneously saying that a couple of college grads who
marry has the same basic expected income of the “wealthy”? Even
though reports note: “For high earners, a three-person family
needed an income between $106,827 and $373,894 to be considered
upper-middle class”, for which the $250K cap is smack dab in the

Hey Fool, "all those folks" signed contracts promising to repay LOANS. ANY "tax cut" is:
    1. On earned income.
    2. AUTHORIZED by Congress.
You have NO dog in this fight: you are Canadian, but if you were a US citizen the appropriate complaint about taxes should be directed towards you congressman, not me.
I'm simply pointing out your hypocrisy, Sunshine.

Only libtards think the wealthy need a handout, Fool. I have spent years

Because you & I both benefit materially from a more educated society.
Especially for bullshit degrees like Gender studies, Dance, medieval art,
Wardrome design. Most of these degrees are worthless, …

Interesting claim: got cite on this “most are worthless” bit?

…so I am subsidizing really stupid decisions? LOL!

Given what you’ve revealed of your household and income, it’s not
much of a subsidy that you’re trying to whine about: ballpark it as Under 1% of the approximate $5K/yr you pay, so that’s all of just
$50 total spread out over the next 10-15 years…

Those degrees are WORTHLESSS dude. Who is hiring Gender Study grads. ..

Way to try to evade the question.

You claimed that most degrees are worthless: where’s your citation to substantiate that assertion?

FYI, from what I’ve found, reportedly 37% of Bachelors degrees are STEM; another 20% are business, 12% healthcare, 4% education…that adds up
to 73% … so explain to me just how most degrees are supposedly “worthless”.

Those degrees are WORTHLESSS dude. Who is hiring Gender Study grads. Who is hiring Black Studies grads? Who is hiring Elizabethan drama grads? Well, some employers for sure, but for the most part these losers are filling coffee mugs or tending bar,
or other unskilled labor. Most employers have very specialized needs. THere is not an endless time line to train. They would rather keep a job open, then hire someone with a questionable background or training.

IN FACT, just the fact that someone took these stupid courses of study, shows they are an idiot. And with the cost of training and onboardng new staff, you gotta pass these folks over. Exceptions of course, but all things be equal, the idiot who has a
degree in Gender Studies loses every time.

And you know this, just part of your schtick.

Convenient how you're trying to avoid the question posed to the naysayers.

Really, if you're making $250k what kind of sacrifice is it to pay $20k? NOT MUCH!

But also not zero. Now repeat the question for a household making just $125K: how much of a sacrifice is it for them? Ditto for $75K households: hurt much yet?

    [ranting ... snipped]

Your college days were long ago, back when public colleges were underwritten to
the tune of 90% of student expenses, so tuition was cheap.

So just how much did you rack up in loans?
    Was it even $10K?

Or were you back in the era where a summer job was enough to pay tuition?

The point is that this abortion is a giveaway to those that clearly don't need it. Really, if you're making $250k what kind of sacrifice is it to pay $20k? NOT MUCH! But the libtards here are bound by their STUPIDITY to try to justify it! You can't

The loan forgiveness will never happen. The courts will not allow it.

There could be challenges to the 2003 HEROES Act, sure. But since Trump used it too,
where were these legal challenges back in 2020?

A loan is a private agreement, the govt has no right to come in and change the terms
of that agreement. Especially not by unilateral executive fiat.

I'd not be so sure of that, because Student loans structurally aren't a standard private bank
simple interest loan because they're backed by the Fed and can't be readily discharged in
a bankruptcy because of special Fed provisions in the law. As such, there's already a big
fat Federal finger on these loans.

The federal government can forgive a financial obligation when the government is the lender, as is the case with student loans.

So you’re simultaneously saying that a couple of college grads who
marry has the same basic expected income of the “wealthy”? Even
though reports note: “For high earners, a three-person family >>>>>> needed an income between $106,827 and $373,894 to be considered >>>>>> upper-middle class”, for which the $250K cap is smack dab in the
    middle of.

    -hh
Only in the libtard's world is $250k considered to be "middle class."
Since when does a family pulling in $250k need government
    ASSISTANCE???
So student loan forgiveness is a bad idea...

...but forgiving $183K for Marjorie Taylor Greene is A-OK?

    <https://twitter.com/WhiteHouse/status/1562916200866267138>

How about Vern Buchanan's $2.3 MILLION?

    <https://twitter.com/WhiteHouse/status/1562916204011995136>

    Kevin Hern's $1 million?

    <https://twitter.com/WhiteHouse/status/1562916208441180161>

WHO is going to pay for this???

Only libtards think the wealthy need a handout, Fool. I have spent years getting food to the needy - I know the fucking difference.
Interesting also that the original sum was $300 Billion, now it is up to $500 billion. I fail to understand how the President can unilaterally forgive a contractual agreement like this.

Regardless, this is probably the most expensive vote buying scheme in history. And they refuse to say who is paying for this. DUH! The fucking taxpayers. I paid off my loans, my wife paid off her loans, why should I pay off someones elses. Especially
for bullshit degrees like Gender studies, Dance, medieval art, Wardrome design. Most of these degrees are worthless, so I am subsidizing really stupid decisions? LOL!
Neither you nor I nor anyone else will have to subsidize even one dime of the loan money that was forgiven. The government was the lender and the government said some borrowers don't have to pay back the money they borrowed. That has no effect on you.

LOL! And the sad part is that you actually BELIEVE THAT!! Where the fuck do you think the government gets its money, imbecile?

BTW, I happened to hear a report on how common these "worthless" degrees are which are being bitched about: reportedly, its only 0.4%.

Doing the math, it means that 99.6% of students *aren't* studying fields which are

Yeah, right - whistling past the graveyard, LA.

I'm not the one here who's obsessing over an election as a life-or-death crisis,
so please don't become violent if it turns out that you lose.

Likewise, you're also forgetting that as per my employer requirements, I'm not allowed to
actively campaign for any specific candidate. That is why my comments have always been
examinations of topics, policies, weaknesses/hypocrisies thereof and pointing out partisan lies.

Now one of these days I will certainly retire and I'll be legally free to actually say "Vote for [Name]",
but until that day, I'll continue to take the high road which you clearly cannot find, let alone walk.
