• Real question?

Djokovic Nadal were toasted after nearly 6 hours in AO 2012. They could barely stand and were given chairs.

Alcaraz Sinner in comparison, after nearly 5.5 hours in FO 2025 looked significantly fresher and stronger.

    Options?

    1) Decline of fitness is exponential as it reaches final reserves. So playing extra half an hour would waste them significantly more and we didn't see them reach that stage?

E.g. adding half an hour after 5.5 hours in not the same as adding half an hour after 2 hours.

    2) Venue and the conditions? Even though I'm not sure how could this work in Djokovic Nadal favour?

AO was a hardcourt match and it was a night session, I assume it was at least no worse than day FO session, no? OTOH I could envision clay being softer on players' bodies so that could work in Djokovic Nadal favour who were surely more beaten up.

    3) Game style. Djokovic Nadal have rallied more I think and adding tough hardcourt surface I could understand them being more tired. But Alcaraz Sinner have hit bigger and that is energy consuming as well.

In the end, are we seeing?

    A) some unique explanation from the above?

    B) game definitely moving forward, players becoming superior in this decade?
