Fonseca, Fils, Rune, MensikIn what order do you rate them, and why?I have seen Fils play maybe 4 times this year. I came from "who he?" to "this guy is likely top 5 material, in the physical game". Watching him against Alcaraz at Barcelona he looked
like he overplayed, lacked patience, probably out of fear of Alcaraz. He's only 20, so we'll see if he gets past that. If he does, he'll be way up there.Rune. I watched him against Ruud yesterday. Ruud was pretty flat and Rune was not distracted, as he
often is. He has enough physical game to be in the top 10, maybe top 5, if he gets over the mental part. I don't think that'll happen, though.Fonseca & Mensik. I can't separate them just yet. It could be that Mensik is a flash in the pan, and Fonseca, I
just don't actually *see* anything really special in the physical game, more so that a player like Rublev. Until I can see something more, I'm not sure he'll make the top 10. Mensik showed the Sinner-like physical tools to make the top 10, but so did
Raducanu. What do you think, fellow RSTers?
I haven't seen them all play, but the way you describe them it seems Fonseca is an all-time great candidate?
"Looks nothing special" is the way you and many others described Djokovic.
Sure there are plenty of players who "don't look special". But when he's such a fine player and doesn't look special he could be really special. ;)
Mensik is very athletic and and strong, both physically and mentally, I've seen him, on paper he seems like the safest bet to be the best of this group, but my gut feeling is with Fonseca
Rune is too short and has to work physically too much to be really dominant player, and Fils seems similar to FAA.
