withdrew from a slam event after a close first set, in his quest to get a life goal 25 majors single, I'd default to thinking that yep, it was indeed a real injury.Remember that he lost the first set 7-6 and 5; a close loss of only only set. This is the
same guy who was down 0-2 in the majors 7 times, and came back to win 5 times:Wins from 0-2:- Musetti RG 2021 – 4th Round- Tsitsipas RG 2021 – Final- Sinner WIM 2022 – Quarter Final- Djere US 2023 – 3rd RoundLosses from 0-2:- Nadal RG 2020 –
Final- Medvedev US 2021 – Final- Sinner AO 2024 – Semi Final-- "It is Pointless, and endless Trouble, to cast a stone at every dogthat barks at you."--Sawfish> > There is a difference between he can't play the match or he can't win the match.> As
long as he is capable of playing and as you said he played a super first set (you can watch it) he was capable of completing the match and this is where the criticism and sportsmanship comes.OK, let's follow the idea that he played a close first set,
lost it. Then decided to quit, in spite of having played well, and *this* is in the semi-final of the major where he has by far his most wins, he is 37, and is seeking a record-breaking 25th majors win. As a coda, he probably realizes that he may not
have any other chances as good as this one.People are seriously suggesting that he simply quit in this circumstance? If they are indeed saying this, what do they think is the reason?Do *you* find this plausible?
Haters, who cares.
