It’s all about the TV Benjamins.

Yeah, supposedly, the Big Ten is okay with adding them, but the TV partners only wanted to go with the teams that actually draw football fans.

Maybe the B1G can offer them a cut-rate membership like Washington and Oregon got.

Possible, but it seems like they would have already done so if interested.

This is a money move. Stanford may, at best, end up independent. At worst, not inconceivable, given the attitudes surrounding sports in California, they just plain walk.
