No go!!
I'm open to seeing where this goes and seeing whether they
really are trying to achieve something with this idea, or is it
just a cash-grab league for the 'big boys' of European football?
Hmm, no promotion or relegation apparently. Four leagues in all. 16
teams in each of the top two leagues. Two groups of 8, so 14 league
games, plus 3 rounds of knockout games to determine the champion
(two-legged ? Not specified). So a minimum of 17 games to win it, more
likely 20. How is that going to be compatible with domestic leagues
(34 to 38 games) and domestic cups ?
It is claimed that access will be dependent on domestic league
performance, but no mechanism for this was laid out in the Guardian
article you linked.
I think there would be significant logistical problems, and for me, lack
of promotion and relegation is a real problem.
