The second round starts on Saturday with Switzerland - Italy and Germany
- Denmark.
How did Germany win their group but they don't get to play their next
game at the Olympiastadion? In fact, they haven't played there yet and
aren't scheduled to play there until the final. I remember in 1996
England played all their games at Wembley.
Anyway, I'm finding Switzerland - Italy too difficult to call so am
inclined to say draw at 90 minutes, wouldn't like to say what will
happen in extra time. Germany should have too much for Denmark, but then Denmark do seem to be good at getting draws. I could see this being a
draw at 90 minutes with Germany making the breakthrough in extra time?

Erm...it seems to have had the completely opposite effect. A completely disastrous first 10 minutes by Italy. Pathetic, pathetic, pathetic.
Just how good does the Italian anthem sound in front of a packed out Olympiastadion?
No wonder they win so often, who wouldn't be fired up after an anthem
like that?
Italy have been poor, which means they will win on penalties, almost certainly.
Schar almost gifts Italy a lifeline with what would have been the own
goal of the tournament, but his looping backwards header bounces off the post.

The phrase going out with a whimper not a bang comes to mind.

34 minutes, ref stops the match due to a thunderstorm.
I said it before but it’s worth repeating- this is why North
and Central European countries should not be allowed to host
major tournaments. Modern stadia and good infrastructure
aren’t the be all and end all.
67 minutes- Musiala runs onto a long pass and finishes to put Germany
2-0 up.
47 minutes, Andersen gets the ball in the net for Denmark after s goal
mouth scramble, but it’s ruled out on VAR as he was offside earlier in
the play but while not interfering with play. Not sure about that
decision myself.

They've just been explaining the decision on ITV and apparently the
goal was ruled out because the player who set Andersen up was
fractionally offisde - one of those "impossible to see with the naked
eye but after replaying the position 50 times you can see the
attacker's toenail is marginally ahead of the defender (with no
meaningful advantage, which is surely what offside is supposed to
prevent?)" calls which are spoiling football.

Some huffing and puffing by Italy in the remainder of the second half,
never really seriously bothered the Swiss, who were happy to sit back
and defend a comfortable and fully deserved 2-0 (really, it should
have been more).
Football kinda sucks, but the Italian NT sucks a lot more.
Germany - Denmark just kicked off, Germany in all white, Denmark in all
red.

So why are they playing in the wrong colours?
And why were Italy playing in the wrong colour shorts? And yes Italy
were poor. What went wrong? And why wasn't Chiellini playing?
